The Department of Education, Culture and Employment is responsible for supporting culture, heritage and language throughout the NWT.

The Culture and Heritage Division administers and supports arts, culture and heritage programs. This includes responsibility for museums, archives and archaeology.

Official Languages

The Official Languages Division administers and supports language programs.  The division is responsible for delivering translations and program services for French, Cree, Inuktitut (Inuvialuktun and Inuinnaqtun), Chipewyan, Gwich'in, North and South Slavey and Dogrib speakers across the territory.
