In
2004, Education, Culture and Employment produced and
distributed a set of resources for licensed non-profit
“boards” (this includes Advisory Committees or any other
legal organization operating, or overseeing the operation of
a child care centre in the Northwest Territories) to assist
them in the administration and management of a child care
centre. The resources distributed were the Administration
and Management Manual and the Child Care Board Resource
Toolkit.
For your convenience, the Administration and
Management Manual is now also featured on our website under
the Publications. By featuring this manual in
a PDF version we hope to provide easy access to information
for all Board members.
The
Administration and Management Manual and the Child Care
Board Resource Toolkit are designed to provide the Boards
with a guide that can be used to develop day-to-day
operations and decision-making tools. The Manuals can be
used to orient new Board members and new staff members and
they ensure that documents can be found when needed.
Child
Care Centre Boards in the Northwest Territories face rewards
and challenges as they provide an important and essential
service to families in the communities: care of children.
Each Board and staff member must be mindful of their
responsibility. It is recommended that Board members consult
the Information For Child Care Providers section of
this website to learn about what is expected of their
childcare operation.
If a
Child Care Centre Board would like assistance with the
development or review process, please
contact your Regional Early Childhood
Consultant.
